Thanksgiving, what’s it really all about?
Thanksgiving, a national holiday in the United States where you’re allowed to stuff your face with everything from a turkey leg to pumpkin pie. It’s a time when family comes together to spend quality time or just to scream at the TV because your favorite football team is losing the Thanksgiving football game.
Thanksgiving brings joy to most families around the country. Although every family and person celebrates Thanksgiving differently, there is usually one common factor in everyone’s favorite part: food.
NAHS senior Taylor Gorman says, “ I love the food and all the special desserts my family makes.” Taylor continued, explaining that “my sister comes home from college and our whole family can spend time together.”
An additional bonus to the already amazing holiday is to get dressed up nicely, or to not get dressed up at all. Occasionally, families will spend their family time in the comfort of their own sweatpants.
NAHS senior Eliza Dion’s family looks forward to comfort.
“After everyone leaves, my family jumps into pajamas and has a second round at Thanksgiving dinner.”
Depending on the family, the party doesn’t stop after the pumpkin pie is gone. “A quick power nap is all you need and then we are up and at’em for midnight Black Friday shopping,” says NAHS senior Isabella Erti.
There are many different ways to celebrate Thanksgiving, one that is unique to each family. Thanksgiving is the best holiday because it provides a day full of laughter, good food, and time spent with family.
