As he finishes up high school and prepares for college, Liam Conway is a senior athlete at North Attleboro High School who is ready to start the next chapter in his life.
Despite his quiet demeanor, Liam has been a part of many activities at NAHS. He not only the starting nickelback for the high school’s football team, he also competes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes on the winter and spring track teams. Conway has always been a crucial player for all of the teams he’s on, all while maintaining a 3.3 grade point average.
Sports has always been a very influential part in Liam’s life. He started off playing soccer, basketball, and baseball; however, his interest slowly transitioned to football and track. He’s been playing football since 7th grade and has been enjoying it since. Conway said, “I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t start playing football. It keeps me in amazing shape before I start to get ready for track season.”
When I asked about the team’s potential success this year he replied,“We stand in our own way of success. We have too many players playing on both sides of the ball and we need more kids to step up and we need all players to win their individual battles and then we will be successful.” With Liam being a crucial starter, he needs to psych himself up to get ready for every game. Before every game, he listens to music by hip hop artist Drake and Kendrick Lamar to psych himself up.
When we discussed about his plans for college I asked him if he wants to play football in college and he said he would rather focus on academics instead. Liam plans on studying either business or communication when he attends college, despite not knowing where he will be attending.
When we discussed about plans for the future, he told me that he hopes to get a stable job. Liam also told me he hopes on starting a family when he gets out of college and living the best life possible. He also has a plan of owning a chimp. He explained, “ It’s been my dream to own a chimp. I used to always admire them and I want one of my own.”
