On September 21st, North Attleboro’s boy’s soccer team will face off against the King Philip’s Warriors. On their home turf, the Rocketeers are hoping to pick up two points against the 2016 Kelley-Rex Division champions.
After last year’s results, North is hoping to bounce back from their back-to-back defeats. According to Hockomock Sports, King Philip defeated the Rocketeers on both home and away soil. This included a 2-0 victory at home and a 2-1 victory away for the Warriors.
“We need to bring it to them this year. Last year’s results cannot happen again,” said junior midfielder Evan Rosenberg.
Following North’s 1-1 tie with Oliver Ames on September 14th, they sit on top of the Davenport Division tied with Canton with 4 points.
“It was a very hard fought tie,” said defender Andrew Fontaine. “Oliver Ames had a lot of talent but if we play that way against King Philip we’ll surely win.”
North is hoping to continue their unbeaten run, while King Philip hopes to stay in the running for the Kelley-Rex following a 2-1 defeat to Canton.
King Philip currently stands in third place in the Kelley-Rex with 4 points. Beating the Red Rocketeers would bring them into first place with Mansfield.
North Attleboro center back Kevin Aguilar said, “We have to bring the intensity to them. It’ll be a hard game, but if we all play at our top level we can get the 2 points.”
As the game approaches, both teams continue to practice for Thursday’s 3:45 kickoff.
