Question #3

A “ yes” vote for question 3 would prohibit  the commerce of food products from animals not raised in spaces that meet a minimum size requirement.

Result: Yes 78%

  No 22%question-3

This new law will prohibit Massachusetts farmers from  raising egg-laying hens, breeding pigs, and calves  in spaces that disable the animals from “lying down, standing up, fully extending its limbs, or turning around freely”(via Sun Chronicle). The new law will  be effective starting in 2022. The state attorney general will be required to issue a $1,000 fine for  any offense to this new law.

What the people think:

“I voted yes on this question because I believe it is wrong to hold these animals in tight, confined areas.” said North Attleboro student Zach McGowan.


Question #4

This questions asks about the  legalization of the recreational use and taxation of marijuana.

Result: Yes 53%

  No 47%

According to The Sun Chronicle, The new law will permit the possession, use, distribution, and cultivation of marijuana in limited amounts by persons age 21 and older and would
remove criminal penalties for such activities.  The lawWALKER_1600917_18potrally will allow persons over the age of 21 to possess up to ten ounces of marijuana and grow up to six plants in their residence.

What the people think:

“Although I am not able to participate in the recreational use of marijuana, I am glad that it passed because it will provide millions of dollars in taxes that will be used to help improve our schools, roads, and infrastructure.  Hopefully, with the increase of marijuana use there will be a decrease in the usage of other drugs such as heroin and cocaine,” said senior Jack Dakin.
