Wednesday night October 19, 2016, was the last time the two larger than life presidential candidates will be debating with each other in the same room. This last debate was in Las Vegas, Nevada and the moderated by Chris Wallace, who did a spectacular job according to most news organizations post-debate.
Almost every news organization also thought that Hillary Clinton provided her best debate performance of her life and Trump made the biggest mistake of his life when he said he would not support Hillary if she wins saying, “I will look at it at the time.” and “I will keep you in suspense.”
Donald Trump supporter and classmate Andrew Blanchette says, “Trump has the right to believe it will be rigged against him because the media has produced inaccurate polls that show Clinton leading.”
Previously Trump has stated that if he does not win then she stole the election and it was “rigged”. It is unprecedented for a candidate for President to say that if he doesn’t win then his opponent cheated to win. The past few weeks have been awful for Trump with the sexual assault allegations.
During the debate, Hillary was very tough on Trump and after Trump said that Hillary had “bad experience” she said, “When I was in the situation room during the take out of Osama Bin Laden, you were on Celebrity Apprentice.”
“[Hillary] was much more positive and she followed Michelle Obama’s speech of “when they go low, we go high. Also, Donald Trump is awful, he’s too negative and depresses me.” says highly praised librarian Mrs. McKamy.
During the debate, they have talked about a wide array of problems and policies in our country but there’s one major talking point that was never brought up: Climate Change. Donald Trump has said multiple times that global warming is a hoax when we have recently seen the beginning effects of climate change such as Hurricane Mathew, rising oceans, and the death of the Great Barrier Reef. Hillary has said she will do more to help climate change, even if she does not do anything about it as President, at least she admits it exists and is a problem.
No matter who you support, you are probably fed up with this election and just want it to be over. Both candidates have had their ups and downs, it seems like there’s a new scandal about either one of them spread by the media every week. It’s safe to say this is an election like no other.
“I just want this election to be over,” says Senior Bryan Baldwin, “I don’t really care who wins at this point I’m just done with the whole thing.” Millions of Americans agree with Bryan and can’t wait for it all to be over November 8th.
